some things just aren't meant to be

today, i prepped photos for submission to a juried photo show at school. planned to submit 5 of the night series images. the two posted previously and these:

and then the last one fell over and the glass broke. cut my fingers real bad on the glass, but taped em up, found a hardware store nearby, and bought new glass. and then i broke it too, trying to untape the cardboard packaging. so, i think i'm just submitting the top two and the two previously posted images. who knows, what, if any will make it in. i like the idea of an even 5. and yet, not meant to happen, i think.

oh yeah, had to spend the evening sanding my table with a rubber glove taped to my hand to keep dust out of the wounds. is that what i means to suffer for one's art?

  1. You poor thing, we all have moments like that, maybe that last image wasn't meant to be although I find it to be very strong. I'm loving the colors in these... They look like transparencies... Is that what your shooting these days?

  3. Oh goodness, a little funny in written form, but I'm sorry:( On the bright side, the other two images are very strong and if you did submit these three, they kick ass, so you have no worries:) The middle is entrancing and the third gets more interesting with each glace.

I also think this black background is very complementary with your images. I don't know how you are presenting these normally, but you should think about what direction that could bring them. Good luck and keep em' coming!

  4. I look at these and I wonder, what planet is Tricia shooting on?

There's some wild energy coming out of these. My mind is in a different place when I look at them. Couple minutes passed, now that I keep looking at them, I think I'm most grounded in the first one...the long driveway is a bit too familiar, a bit too normal. The other two I'm completely unfamiliar with the content.

The odd perfect light on in the little house, the light out of the house creates quite a surreal mood. The green(very) grass, and some kind of crazy pool/patch/whatever that is on the bottom right, it looks like a pit of emeralds or something crazy. How it's all on a little hill, everything is so much in order its odd. The house is peering over the bushes...looking out at things.

Then you have the shadows of some kind of elongated alien creatures walking on another planet that isn't Earth.

    Winners in my eyes.

  5. These are really breath taking tricia. The last one especially, its interesting that the shadows don't match the forms that are in the photograph. And search for more TV-esque living room lights I really love the mood in that photograph. I'd say if you have to only do two do the bottom two and the previous images.

Things ALWAYS go wrong in the process of art making, it takes and artist to get over that and keep making things (and fucking up.) It can be funny when its a memory.
