I shot this image on Sunday at the Drum Circle near my house. It has been going on for over 70 years and people come to play drums, sing, and dance. I found that the chanting and drumming puts one into a trance like state, almost like meditation. I want to start doing a little series here because their are so many moments happening.

Malcolm X Park Drum Circle
I shot this image on Sunday at the Drum Circle near my house. It has been going on for over 70 years and people come to play drums, sing, and dance. I love this image, that girl closest to the foreground has great emotion and everyone is so into it i can feel the energy coming out of this. I think you should definately keep going especially if there is that much history behind it, id like to hear audio from this and stories of the oldest members of the drum circle. This seem like a great side peice to work on.

ReplyDeleteI have only gathered audio of the drumming itself but I want to do some interviews soon, people there are beginning to feel comfortable with me I think in a few more weeks of going I might have some contacts.
